The company projects that demand for FPSO units will remain high over the next years. In this scenario, SBM Offshore has identified numerous opportunities in the near term, especially in South America - especially Brazil, Guyana and Suriname. Namibia, in Africa, is also emerging as a new growth front. To cater for this movement, SBM Offshore has ordered its tenth MPF hull, guaranteeing the availability of two units for future tenders.

In March 2025, SBM Offshore announced the arrival of the Alexandre de Gusmão FPSO in Brazilian waters. This is the ninth unit chartered by the company to Petrobras and will be installed in the Mero Field, located in the Santos Basin. The new FPSO represents another step in SBM Offshore's strategy to strengthen its operations in Brazil, one of the company's main markets on the global stage. The unit has the capacity to produce up to 180,000 barrels of oil per day and process 12 million m³ of gas per day, and is scheduled to begin operations later this year. The Alexandre de Gusmão will be SBM's second FPSO to start operating in Brazil in 2025. In February, the Almirante Tamandaré FPSO was installed in the Búzios field, also in the Santos Basin. This unit has a production capacity of up to 225,000b/d and 12 million m³ of gas per day.
